How it works
A loop in the ground, a heat pump inside.
Pipe, buried and sealed.
A closed loop of durable pipe is placed in the ground, either drilled straight down or laid out in trenches, depending on the site. A water-based fluid circulates through it and never mixes with the soil.
The earth keeps its cool, and its warmth.
Below the surface the ground stays within a narrow temperature range through the seasons, even while the air above swings from freezing to scorching. That steadiness is what the system draws on.
One system, heating and cooling.
Indoors, a ground-source heat pump moves heat between the loop and the building. In winter it draws warmth in from the ground. In summer it carries heat out of the house and hands it back to the earth.
Why it matters
Comfort that quietly does more with less.
Efficient
It moves heat rather than burning fuel to make it, so it can use noticeably less energy than many conventional systems.
Comfortable
Steady, even temperatures through the seasons, without the big swings and drafts.
Quiet
No big outdoor unit humming under the window. Much of the system lives underground or indoors.
Lower emissions
Less fossil fuel burned on site, and cleaner still when paired with clean electricity.
Built to last
The buried loop sits out of the weather, and a well-designed system is made to serve for many years.
What we do
From first walk-around to a system that just works.
We help homeowners and builders understand, design and install ground-source systems. Details vary from site to site, so we start by listening and looking.
- 01
Assess the site
The land, the ground as well as it can be known, the building and how you use it.
- 02
Design the loop field
The size and layout of the loop, and a heat pump matched to the building it serves.
- 03
Coordinate drilling & installation
We work with qualified drilling and installation partners and keep the project moving and clear.
- 04
Commissioning & support
We check that it performs as designed, walk you through it, and stay available afterwards.
Who it’s for
Anyone with ground to work with.
New builds
The easiest time to do it well: plan the loop alongside the foundation and the landscape.
Retrofits
Replacing an aging furnace, boiler or air conditioner in an existing home.
Larger properties
Estates, farms and campuses with the room and the long view.
Small commercial
Offices, studios and small buildings that heat and cool every day.
Let’s talk
Let’s see what’s under your property.
Tell us about the building and the land. We’ll tell you honestly whether ground-source makes sense, and what the next step would look like.
